4. Balàfia

Balàfia is one of the least-known jewels of inland Ibiza, located in the village of Sant Llorenç de Balàfia, within the municipality of Sant Joan de Labritja. It is a medieval architectural ensemble, with defence towers and fortified rural houses that once protected local communities from pirate attacks.

The secret: Surrounded by almond trees, fig trees and dry-stone walls, this place has no shops and no restaurants. What it does have is pure history.

5. Santa Agnès de Corona

Santa Agnès seems suspended in an eternal stillness. A small 18th-century church, a bar with wooden chairs beneath shaded porches and an agricultural valley that, in February, becomes a spectacle of almond trees in bloom.

The secret: For the rest of the year, the calm is almost overwhelming. At six in the evening, the sun falls slowly over the whitewashed façades and the island recovers its original rhythm.

6. Es Cubells
